OLDHAM and Royton have secured places in the quarter-finals of the John Willie Lees Wood Cup.

Oldham performed a minor miracle to beat Ashton after being skittled for 106 at the Pollards, visiting pro Ben Johnson taking five for seven off 7.5 overs and Ronnie Cameron collecting four for 23.

But Oldham roared back to bowl out Ashton for only 70, with Craig Joy collecting four for 29 and pro Kamran Hussain three for 19.

ROYTON were indebted to a crucial unbeaten 29 from skipper Alan Durose as they won by five wickets at Radcliffe.

The hosts were bowled out for a meagre 91, Liam Brown impressing again with five for 20, but Royton had more than a few hiccups along the way before clinching a vital cup victory.

Crompton were given little chance of success at Littleborough and this tie went the way many suspected with the hosts winning by 129 runs.

Clinton Perren hit 102 and Crompton skipper Carl Taylor collected five for 52 as Boro took first guard and made 207 for eight.

And Crompton were then dismissed for a lowly 79 as Tom Culshaw (four for 18), Warron Williams (three for 17) and Matthew Collins (three for 20) wreaked havoc.
