Cooksey golf day

GOLF: THE annual golf day in memory of former Athletic player Ernie Cooksey is being held on Friday, July 22, at Manchester Golf Club.

Factor 50 — an Oldham-based research fund for the malignant melanoma research team at The Christie — is organising the event in conjunction with Dale supporters trust.

Cooksey died of the aggressive form of skin cancer in 2008.

The first golf day in memory of Cooksey was held last year and the winning team was headed by former 1970s Athletic stalwart Keith Hicks. To claim a place, contact Andy Worthington on 07977 921085.
