ANGLING:

TOP spot in the first Monarch AC members’ contest on Monarch Lodge was occupied by Pete Molloy.

His superb silver fish net included ide, skimmers and roach weighing 18lb 4oz.

Pellet tactics worked well for Steven Eaton-Dykes, whose 14lb 14oz comprised roach, skimmers and ide.

Jeff Carr’s silver fish net came in at 11lb 12oz.

In the second match on the club lodge, John Ketteringham led the way courtesy of a 26lb 1oz net made up of just two big carp taken on meat.

Dave White posted 19lb 4oz of roach, skimmers and ide falling to maggot.

Derrick Hopkinson was not far behind, with carp, skimmer and roach completing an 18lb 18oz net.

MARTIN Taylor won the Medlock Bridge AC open match on Park Lake.

Fishing caster at 11 metres, he caught small roach and a few perch which weighed 12lb 13oz.

Billy Brierley, who has a fine record on Park Lake, followed with 11lb 6oz of chub and roach with a few skimmers on pellet.

Third place went to Tony Clarke, who caught 10lb 6oz, and it would have been more had he not lost a big fish towards the end of a rain-affected match.

TODMORDEN AS ran two contests on Croft, the first of which was won by Paul Balmforth’s 21lb of carp.

Lee Cavanagh finished on 12lb 4oz, followed by Pete Eastwood’s 11lb 12oz of carp.

Graham Mallinson clinched victory in the second meeting, after catching carp totalling 44lb 5oz.

Former Oldham angler Pete Mottram was runner-up with 39lb 10oz of carp, beating Chris Lett into third. Lett took carp weighing in at 34lb.

AIDEN Bordiak won the first Chadderton Mill AC summer evening series.

The Tight Lines rod took 14 carp which weighed in at 42lb 8oz. Lee Humphreys (GTI Matchman) was next with ide adding up to 36lb 8oz.

Phil Hulme tempted 30lb 6oz of ide to take third place.

The second club match saw Paul Hill’s last hour blitz secure victory, with seven carp making up a 26lb net.

Humphreys again found himself in second spot, this time with 24lb 8oz of ide.

Third-placed Jim Evans accounted for ide weighing in at 18lb.

VENUE GUIDE

Huddersfield Narrow Canal – Fishing hard, although there odd good-sized chub and bream coming out to pellet.

Rochdale Canal – Always good for a few fish with tench, skimmers and bream feeding well. Roach spawning but will soon start feeding.

Chadderton Mill Lodge – Paste down the edge at around the four metre mark for decent sized carp. Caster or maggot fished at around twelve metres and up in the water for loads of ide.

Park Lake – Strong winds making fishing really hard but waggler, pole, maggot, caster and pellet all catching fish.
