New trip holds no fears for Mike

ATHLETICS:
MIKE Mannings, in his first event over a distance of 10 miles, finished an excellent 29th in the Llandudno road race.
High winds made life difficult for 1,000 competitors, and the Oldham and Royton Harrier was more than happy with his time of one hour, 38 seconds.
Pete Williams was second home for the club in 188th, clocking 1:12:13, with Darren Mannings 226th in 1:13: 45 and Sara Bott 441st in 1:22:29.
In the Geoff Doggett 5k race in Littleborough, Mannings was fifth in 17:38, followed by David Nevill 23rd (19:13), Lee O’Brien 53rd (20:25), Darren Mannings 61st (21:22), Williams 78th (22:37) and Gary Kail 105th (25:51).
Pam Fairbrother produced a fine run in the Alexandra Park 5k event, recording a personal best of 25:14 to be runner-up in the women’s category.
On the track, the club’s young athletes have finished third and first in their two league fixtures so far with two more to go.
