CRICKET: HOLLINWOOD reached round two of the Tanner Cup and in doing so got off the mark for the season.

Mudassar Butt’s side restricted opponents Stayley to 128 — Lou Adair top-scored with 58 — before securing victory with five wickets to spare.

Holders Bamford Fieldhouse booked their place in the next round at the expense of Shaw at Hollin Lane.

Although Shaw did a decent job in dismissing Bamford for 177 — Paddy McKeown made 48 — Andy Young’s side crashed to 73 all out in reply. Professional Grant Hodnett claimed four for 14.

Leaders Uppermill, for whom James Baron made 53 in a total of 239 for seven, defeated Austerlands by 130 runs, while Friarmere made it two wins in seven days over Moorside.

Asif Qayyum, with 68, and 52 from Darren Shadford helped Gary Kershaw’s side to 211 for eight.

Richard Baines hit a season’s-best 90 in reply, but his effort was in vain as Moorside fell 69 runs short of victory.
