Don’t write us up, pleads Walker

WERNETH skipper Andy Walker reckons he has found his team’s recipe for Lake Garage CLL success.
“Whenever the Chronicle says we should win, we tend to lose, whereas last weekend you suggested we might struggle yet we defeated Littleborough and Middleton, so make sure you don’t write us up for this weekend,” quipped Walker shortly after Sunday’s success against the Towncroft outfit.
Point taken, Andy. Walsden always provide stern opposition at home and tomorrow’s fixture promises to be no different despite the excellence of last weekend’s displays by Werneth.
ROYTON also go into tomorrow’s fixture at Clifton in good heart following derby defeats of Crompton and Oldham.
But Clifton are in fifth place for a good reason and boast a red-hot professional in Hendro Puchert.
That said, in-form Royton expect to parade their contracted Lancashire star Luke Procter, so a win for the Paddock boys is certainly on the cards.
OLDHAM’S reliance on skipper Chris McDonnell and opener Zaffer Jatoi was underlined when both failed with the bat last weekend, and one or maybe both will need to be on top form if the Pollards men are to get anything from their trip to Littleborough.
And CROMPTON will do well to shake up a Middleton side boasting a nice blend of youth and experience.
