LUKE Procter made a triumphant return to the Royton ranks as the Paddock club’s upward curve in the Lake Garage CLL continued with a five-wicket victory at Clifton on Saturday.

Procter, who has missed most of the CLL season due to Lancashire commitments, was freed by the Red Rose county in the middle of the ongoing Friends Life t20 competition.

And he showed Royton what they had been missing with a match-winning all-round display.

Procter took six for 32 as Clifton were dismissed for 135 before guiding Royton to the winning line with a calm, unbeaten 41 in a total of 136 for five.

OLDHAM were involved in an amazing run-filled match against Littleborough at Hare Hill, but it was the home side who came out on top.

Overseas amateur Warron Williams smashed all sorts of Boro records with a dazzling, unbeaten 201 in a total of 346 for three. Gary Hulme made 41 and professional Clinton Perren 39.

Oldham could have been forgiven for throwing in the towel, but they showed excellent spirit to make a real fist of chasing down such a huge total.

Paid man Kamran Hussain hit 130, Craig Joy 41 and Paul Thompson 31 as Oldham racked up an impressive 297 for seven to gain a batting bonus point and play a full part in a game which produced the thick end of 650 runs.

WERNETH's topsy-turvy season continued with a hugely- disappointing nine-wicket defeat at Walsden.

Werneth were skittled for 92 - Jamie Shackleton five for 25 and Duminda Perera four for 27 - at a ground which usually yields high totals, and that paltry score proved to be a doddle for the home side who raced to 93 for one, paid man Perera hitting an unbeaten 40.

CROMPTON'S miserable season shows few signs of a change in fortune and the Glebe Street club were rarely in the hunt at Middleton.

After taking first guard, the hosts reached 209 for eight thanks to 70 from Grant Jones and 37 by George Walker.

And Crompton were bowled out for a disappointing 119, Danny Taylor top scoring with 34 and spinner Dale Highton taking four for 37.
