Friends book final spot

FRIENDS saw off Europa Exiles in the Ashton and Oldham Alliance Charlie Skoltock Shield semi-finals.

Qasim made 38 as Friends reached 116, with M Clinton bagging a hat-trick for Europa.

But Clinton’s team fell short with the bat, ending their overs 26 runs short of the target.

The other semi-final saw Foresters edge out hosts Greengate.

The visitors were restricted to 142 for six, with J Yates (39) top scoring.

Greengate looked on target for a winning reply until I Bailey (four for 18) slowed them down and they ended up six runs shy of their goal.

Friends will play Foresters in the final on July 30.

Following their Twenty20 game, Friends and Europa played a six-a-side Tobin Shield semi-final.

Friends made 73 for four before restricting their opponents to 41 for four.

The final, again on July 30, sees Friends play Greengate.

In the Plate competition, Heyside thirds made 202 for seven at St Mary’s HC thanks to S Partington’s 92.

St Mary’s could muster only 102 for six, Woods contributing 38.

Heyside thirds face Newtonhurst in the July 30 final.
