Flying start for club’s new boy

DROYLSDEN captain Michael Schofield is hoping Abdul Waheed will prove a good acquisition to the ranks.
The overseas amateur, from Pakistan, hit the ground running at high-flying Uppermill, with figures of four for 27 and a half-century.
Schofield said: “Abdul was recommended by one of our players, Mohammed Shakir.
“He bowls medium pace and moves the ball about a bit.
“Considering it was his debut, he did really well, and even though he was brought in mainly to boost the bowling attack, he looks a useful bat as well.”
Droylsden suffered their fifth defeat on the spin in all competitions when they exited the LCB Cup last Sunday.
They limited CLL side Rochdale to 155 for six in a tie reduced to 38 overs, Because of a slow over rate, Droylsden had 35 overs to reach the target.
The fall of Bari Akbar, Aqib Uppal and Gareth Dent in quick succession left them reeling at three for two and, although they managed to stem the early crash of wickets, they were eventually dismissed for 112.
