Khiljee knock in vain

CRICKET:

DELPH crashed out of the Sykes Cup after a quarter-final loss at Golcar.

The home outfit recorded 260 for eight, and Grant Jones’ team fell 23 runs shy of the target despite 76 from Bilal Khiljee.

It came 24 hours after Delph’s comfortable win at Broad Oak in the Drakes Huddersfield League Premiership.

Khiljee took six for 24 as Broad Oak departed for 68.

In reply Faisal Butt notched 42 as Delph reached their target at the expense of three wickets.

Micklehurst were beaten at home by Kirkheaton in the Cedar Court Conference.

Skipper Jonny Forrester made 66 before the hosts were dismissed for 207, but Kirkheaton were in fine form with the bat and earned a five-wicket victory.




JOSH Tolley smashed 104 runs as Woodhouses roared to a comprehensive win against Thornham in the Lees Brewery Lancashire County League Division One.



He helped Mike Cassidy’s team post 293 for five. Luke Swards then took four for 58 as Thornham were bowled out for 198.

Tolley was also the main man yesterday when Woodhouses won the area final of the Village Cup against Great Eccleston.

He produced an unbeaten 150 as his side made their way to 284.

Great Eccleston were 165 runs short of their goal when the last wicket fell.
