Lancs title for Squires
Date published: 22 June 2011
GOLF: ALAN Squires has scooped another Lancashire Seniors Championship — his fourth.
The Oldham member claimed top honours in devastating fashion at Haydock Park.
Squires, who kept hold of his English Senior crown at the Northamptonshire County Golf Club earlier this month, fired rounds of 71 and 69 to finish nine shots clear of the field.
The 62-year-old, from Moorside, was going one better than 12 months ago when he came runner-up behind Stand’s Terry Brown at Ormskirk.
Squires had made it a hat-trick of Lancashire senior victories in 2009 when the 36-hole event was held at Denton.
