Students head Down Under
Date published: 24 June 2011
OLDHAM students Nigel Scott and Jonathan Horton are on their way Down Under today to take part in the Great Britain Students tour of Australia and Bali.
Half-back Scott played his junior rugby at Waterhead before moving to Bradford Bulls and Hunslet Hawks.
He attends Leeds Metropolitan University, while hooker Horton — a former amateur with Higginshaw and Saddleworth Rangers — is currently at Dewsbury Rams, having also started his professional career with the Bulls. He attends the same university as Scott.
Also in the squad for the tour is Oldham Roughyeds prop forward Liam Gilchrist, who attends the University of Central Lancashire where he studies fine art.
Two warm-up games take place, against an Indonesian Select XIII in Bali and Northern Territories in Darwin, before three Tests against Australia Students in Brisbane and Cairns.
