HEYSIDE capitalised on Shaw's free weekend by climbing to second in the Armstrongs Office Furniture Saddleworth and District Cricket League Division One table, after a comfortable victory over Moorside.
It came 24 hours after the entire Tanner Cup schedule was wiped out due to heavy rain. Ties will start this evening and, weather permitting, continue to a conclusion over the rest of this week.
Almost incessant rain meant the eagerly-anticipated matches were a non-starter.
But the sun came out yesterday and Heyside's Bramwell Godea claimed five for 17 as Moorside were dismissed for 103.
In reply, Roleof Hugo's unbeaten 53 helped Heyside reach a winning total for the loss of just one wicket.
Leaders Uppermill bounced back from the shock defeat they suffered at the hands of Friarmere last time out to see off Stayley at home.
The hosts posted 272 for four, with Andy McVeigh making 92 and James Baron 62 not out, before bowling out their opponents for 88.
Uppermill are 19 points clear of Heyside and will hope the win will return them to a consistent run of form.
Ian Hague mustered 81 for fourth-placed Saddleworth, who lost all their wickets for 184 at home to Glodwick, who occupy fifth position.
The away side were still 92 runs short of their goal when the final wicket fell.
Hosts Hollinwood fell agonisingly short of their target of 204 against Friarmere, for whom Asif Qayyam managed 58.
Mudasa Butt (64) and Ahmed Butt (60) led the reply, but Hollinwood were still six runs shy of their goal when they were dismissed.
Visitors Bamford Fieldhouse were 156 all out before skittling Droylsden for 57.
Rahul Panta was the stand-out performer as he produced a knock of 56 for Greenfield at Austerlands.
Chasing 149, his side successfully navigated their way to victory with five wickets to spare.
