ROYTON went from despair to delight as they registered a stunning 18-runs victory over Monton and Weaste in the Lake Garage CLL.
Yesterday's match on a drying Paddock wicket was a triumph for both sets of bowlers.
Prospects looked bleak for Royton when they were skittled for 117, Dominic Gavin taking seven for 62 and professional Paul Green three for 28.
But Monton were themselves blasted out for just 99 as Royton skipper Alan Durose (four for 32) and South African deputy professional Con De Lange (three for 36) assumed control.
CROMPTON squandered a winning opportunity at Walsden.
The home side were bowled out for 138 despite Matt Dawson's knock of 42. Danny Taylor collected four wickets for only three runs.
Such a low total on a ground noted for big scores should have been within Crompton's reach, but they were dismissed for a meagre 79 – a total which included an unbeaten 51 from Steven Wright, who received zero support. Walsden professional Duminda Perera was the chief destroyer with five for 29.
