SWIMMER Jessica Fullalove has been included on a list of competitors in with a chance of going to the London 2012 Olympics.

Great Britain coaches have informed the 14-year-old Oldham Hulme Grammar School pupil that if she continues to impress, she will make the final cut.

And Jessica won’t have to wait long for her next chance to shine — she is part of the GB squad heading to the European Championships in Belgrade on July 6, before testing herself on the world stage in Peru on August 16.

A string of eye-catching performances for Oldham Seals led to regular call-ups to the national side.

Jo Knighton, head of PE at Hulme Grammar, said: “Jessica received a letter confirming she is on a list of people currently being considered for London 2012 selection.

“GB coaches have told her to keep up the good work because if her performances remain at their current level, she is almost certain to be involved.

“We are thrilled to bits for Jessica. I know she will be looking to produce more good times in Belgrade.

“If she gets the green light she will become this school’s first ever Olympian.

“One of our former students, Nicola White, plays hockey for Great Britain and went to the Commonwealth Games and Junior Olympics.

“I am sure Nicola will be involved in London 2012 with the national team.”

Jo also praised the talented teenager for successfully balancing school work with her swimming commitments.

She added: “Jessica is coping brilliantly with the pressures of swimming and studying for modules and exams.

“She knows how much focus school work requires at this stage.”
