AFTER Saturday's wash-out in the Tanner Cup, rain again affected ties when the second round of the Saddleworth and District Cricket League's knock-out competition got under way last night.
Bamford Fieldhouse, the holders, reached 83 for five with 17 overs remaining against Saddleworth at Well-i-Hole, while beaten finalists in 2010, Uppermill, had reduced Glodwick to 116 for six from 30 overs at Leefields. Professional Rehan Refiq was unbeaten on 47.
Alex Peters, with 73 not out, steered Greenfield to a strong position at Friarmere.
The visitors from Ladhill Lane were 120 for two with 18 overs left.
And Hollinwood recovered from a dreadful start — they were 22 for four — to finish on 147 for five from 37 overs at Heyside.
Captain Mudassar Butt steadied the ship with a gritty 41, before Aamir Afzal and Shakeel Saddique ended unbeaten on 54 and 23 respectively.
All games resume tonight at 6.30pm.
