CRICKET:
WOODHOUSES are three victories away from Lord’s after making it through to the last 16 of the Persimmon Village Cup, courtesy of a win at Tattenhall.
Mike Cassidy’s side recorded 241 for five before dismissing the hosts for 145, with Ashley Prescott taking three of the wickets.
A trip to Lord’s — the home of cricket — is now firmly in the sights of Cassidy and co.
They will travel to Cotswold Hills League outfit Shipston-on-Stour next month, with July 10 pencilled in as the probable date.
Should the match be confirmed for that day, it would come 24 hours after a league clash with Dukinfield at home.
The Medlock Road outfit are enjoying a superb run of form, as they approach the halfway stage of the season.
They are currently top of the Lees Brewery Lancashire County League Division One table, one point clear of Prestwich.
Josh Tolley has caught the eye more than anyone this term. He has already plundered more than 800 runs in the league, and has featured for Lancashire seconds.
The right-hander has been a hit since his arrival from Chorley last year.
