Ice-cool Brenda is belle of the ball

BRENDA Bellis kept her cool on the first extra hole as Crompton and Royton edged out Buxton and High Peak 4&3 in the prestigious Bell Cup.

Pauline Givvons, Sarah Penney and Marjorie Bray were the club’s other winners on their trip to Derbyshire.

It was a great win for Crompton and Royton as none of the players had experience of the course before.

They face another away-day in the next round after being drawn at Bolton Lostock.

Meanwhile, Zoe Styles recorded her first hole in one — on the 15th — as Crompton and Royton defeated Saddleworth in the Lancashire Shield.

Along with Bray, Jackie Banham and Val Hall, she helped the club to another narrow 4&3 win.
