All to play for in pursuit of top-two spot

GOLF: THREE games to go and it’s still all to play for in the Oldham and District Golf League.
The new format introduced this season sees the top two in each division involved in play-offs and several clubs still have realistic chances of claiming a place.
Werneth’s lead at the top of the ‘A’ League East Division was cut to two when they lost 6-2 at Blackley, and only four points separate second to fifth.
It’s even closer in the West Division, where all six sides are still in with a shout with 24 points still available to each team.
In the ‘B’ League, East Division high-flyers Blackley held chasing Werneth to a 5-3 home win at Garden Suburb and these two are now nine clear.
And in the West, Denton leapfrogged North Manchester after a 6-2 win over Stamford. North Manchester lost 5-3 at Saddleworth and, with all points coming from halved games, it could have been so different.
This week the teams take a break from the league, with the quarter-finals of the cup and first round of the plate competitions taking centre stage.
