OLDHAM CC stalwart Mel Whittle is to resign from the CLL’s Management Committee and Grounds Committee following the league’s imposition of a £500 against his club.
The penalty, which relates to the cancellation of a second XI fixture when the Pollards was being used to host a fairground, is a hefty one by CLL standards, but it is not without precedent.
An appeals committee upheld the fine last night despite representations from Oldham.
