Captains join forces to claim major success

GOLF: IT was a case of captains first in the President’s Salver, a major competition at Crompton and Royton.

Gordon Lamb and Audrey Whittaker teamed up to win the open mixed foursomes with a score of 65.2.

The runners-up were mother and son duo from Manchester Golf Club, Phil and Maureen Delaney.

Husband and wife, Julie (Crompton and Royton) and Sid Barton (Saddleworth), were in third place after carding 69.5.
