CRICKET: WOODHOUSES roared through to the quarter-finals of the Persimmon Village Cup an impressive victory at Shipston-on-Stour.
The Medlock Road side made 267 thanks in no small part to 51 each from Nick Doyle and skipper Mike Cassidy.
Sam Sweeney took three wickets as the Cotswold Hills League outfit were bowled out for 112.
It means Cassidy and his team are still on course for a dream trip to Lord’s in the final.
They face a trip to Stainsby Hall in the last-eight, with the date to be confirmed.
The win came as a timely boost for Woodhouses, who lost top spot in the Lees Brewery Lancashire County League Division One 24 hours earlier.
Hosts Dukinfield made 140 before dismissing their visitors for 131 in a close encounter.
Prestwich replaced Woodhouses at the summit following their triumph over Thornbank.
DELPH beat Hoylandswaine in the Drakes Huddersfield Premiership.
Bruce Cruse posted 57 as Grant Jones’ men ended on 265 for seven.
Their opponents were still 38 runs shy of the target when they ran out of overs, with seven wickets down.
Kyle Hogg claimed three for 64 and Bilal Khiljee mustered three for 74.
MICKLEHURST suffered a disappointing four-wicket loss to bottom side Lascelles Hall in the Cedar Court Conference.
The basement boys, now level on points with Micklehurst, bowled out Jonny Forrester’s side for 136 before reaching a
winning total.
