County juniors book place in semi-finals

BOWLS: GREATER Manchester juniors have reached the semi-finals of the County Championship for the first time in 12 years after defeating North Lancs and Fylde 435-388 on Sunday.
They will play Warwick and Worcestershire in the semi-finals on Sunday, August 14.
TONGE’S Andrew Cairns won the Metro Classic and £600 top prize at Stretford when he beat Sale’s Danny Baines 21-12 in the final.
But his team-mate Jimmy Derby missed out at the last hurdle in the Craven Classic at Skipton, going down 21-18 in the final to Sheffield’s Chris Kelly.
Tonge take on the Railway Hotel, Congleton, in a rearranged Manchester Premier League match on Thursday (7.30pm).
