SHAW joined local rivals Heyside at finals day in the Saddleworth and District Cricket League’s Twenty20 Cup after a convincing five-wicket defeat of Uppermill at Leefields last night.
The home side recovered from 78 for six to post 146 for six from their 20 overs.
Michael Bird hit an unbeaten 56 from 35 balls and Matt Taylor was 13 not out, with all his runs coming in singles.
Professional Imran Aslam had earlier made 45 from just 22 deliveries for the league leaders.
In reply, Joe Whitehead chanced his arm to score 35 at the top of the order and paid man Khurram Shehzad compiled 54 as Shaw reached their target with three overs to spare.
The two remaining quarter-final ties in the competition, sponsored by 20-20 Vision of Uppermill, take place tonight.
Saddleworth at home to Stayley and Greenfield playing host to Friarmere. Matches start 6.30pm.
Finals day is on Bank Holiday Monday, August 29.
