Three more points for title glory

GOLF: WERNETH ‘A’ need only three points from their final ‘A’ League game of the season tonight at home to Crompton and Royton to ensure finishing top of the East Division.
They claimed a 7-1 success at winless Oldham and one more good result will seal top place and that all-important home advantage in the semi finals.
Who will join them in the play-offs from the East Division is less clear with Ashton and Dukinfield still in contention — the latter’s 5-3 away win at Blackley giving them a late boost.
In the West Division, North Manchester clinched top spot when they beat Stamford 6-2 in their final fixture on Monday leaving Brookdale needing two points from a home game with Denton tonight to take the second play-off berth.
Blackley and Werneth are definitely through in the ‘B’ League East Division and the Garden Suburb team will be looking for neighbours Oldham to do them a last-day favour as they host Blackley while Werneth go to Crompton and Royton just three points in arrears.
And in the ‘B’ West Division, North are top and need some sort of pick-up at seven-adrift Stamford to be sure of progression but with second-placed Denton at home to Brookdale, top spot is less secure.
The play-off semi finals will be played next week once the line-up is determined.
