Confidence high for Woodhouses

CRICKET: WOODHOUSES hope to close the gap on Prestwich at the top of the Lees Brewery Lancashire County League Division One table tomorrow when they travel to Irlam.
Mike Cassidy’s side temporarily revisited the summit when they defeated the leaders last time out, only to lose against Flowery Field 24 hours later.
The Medlock Road outfit wanted the Flowery game shifted to a later date due to their Persimmon Village Cup commitments on the same day — only to be told by league bosses the contest had to go ahead.
Woodhouses honoured the fixture but fielded a weakened team who lost, causing them to fall five points behind Prestwich.
Cassidy said: “After beating Stainsby Hall in the Village Cup to reach the semi-finals confidence is high.”
LEADERS Delph go to Shepley tomorrow in the Drakes Huddersfield Premiership, aiming their five-point lead over second-placed Kirkburton.
And in Cedar Court action, strugglers Micklehurst entertain Linthwaite at Castle Lane.
