NON-LEAGUE FOOTBALL: CHADDERTON boss Paul Buckley was left to rue missed opportunities as his side were held to a goalless draw by Abbey Hey in the Vodkat North-West Counties League Division One.

James Curley missed two glorious opportunities in a lively first half, only for Abbey Hey to take the initiative after the break and look the more likely winner.

Chadderton goalkeeper Lee Swanson was carried off at the end of the first period with concussion following a clash of heads.

Buckley said: "We could have been out of sight after 45 minutes but a number of chances went begging, including a couple of good ones for Curley."

OLDHAM Boro lost 2-0 at home to Formby in NWCL Division One.
Mark Kirkby scored the opener six minutes after the break and Paul Speed doubled the cushion with 10 minutes remaining.

Boro boss Tony Mills said: "We had our moments in front of goal and should have scored some one-on-ones, but Formby are a very strong team, they are going to be in the mix this year.

"At times they tore us apart up front so I have no complaints about the result."
