CRICKET: WERNETH and Royton will tomorrow continue to press for a place in the top five of the Lake Garage CLL and a spot in next year’s LCB Cup.
Both clubs have 64 points, three shy of fifth-placed Heywood, and Werneth can leapfrog their rivals from Crimble by beating them at the Coppice tomorrow.
Royton have a similarly-tough game at Walsden, while at the other end of the table Oldham go to Wood Cup winners Middleton and Crompton will be aiming to put more space between themselves and bottom club Ashton at Glebe Street.
THE CLL colts can clinch a place in the final of the Inter-League Competition with victory over their Bolton Association counterparts at Darcy Lever CC on Sunday (1.30pm).
Former Royton spinner Joe Lovell is in the CLL’s 12-man squad for the game.
