GOLF: CHARLIE Clough came out a major winner after securing the Centenary Trophy at Brookdale — with the club picking up a one-two to boot.
Clough's score of 68-5-63 was enough to see him two shots clear on his home course of Brookdale's promising 18-year-old Joe Brice, who carded 70-5-65.
In third was P Williams (80-13-67), on a card play-off from R T Hughes (72-5-67).
JOHN Clayton was a winner at Stamford when he returned a score of 8-up to win the bogey competition for the Wood Bowl.
Steve Barnes (6 up) was runner-up, while the in-form Archie Palmer was 6 up to clinch victory in the juniors’ version of the Wood Bowl.
Stamford went to the top of the clubs’ league with a 13-1 victory over Ashton.
