Park life is sweet for Taylor

ANGLING: MARTIN Taylor was at the double in the latest Medlock Bridge AC contests, both of which took place on the Park Lake.

The first match saw Taylor catch a huge 29lb 10oz of good bream, skimmers, tench, roach and the odd chub.

Steve Hodges followed with bream and skimmers adding up to 13lb 3oz, while third-placed Bob Harrison took 12lb 12oz of skimmers and tench.

In the second meeting, Taylor dominated proceedings and ended with a 12lb 2oz net comprising of bream, skimmers and roach that fell to pole and pellet.

Steve Hall was up next with two small carp and chub and roach making 11lb 12oz, with Billy Brierley tempting 6lb 9oz of skimmers, perch and roach.

STUART Taylor won the first Lees and Hey AS contest on the Blundells East Lake and weights were not bad at all, with plenty of f1s and silvers feeding.

Using long pole and maggot, he accounted for 19lb 14oz of f1s, skimmers and silvers to beat Steve Orr (17lb 5oz) and Chris Knott (16lb 6oz), both of whom put together similar nets to Taylor.

Top-dog in the next showdown was Lawrence Kouras. With pole and maggot he caught 12lb 2oz of skimmers and roach on the Fir Tree Fisheries.

Taylor was runner-up, his identical catch weighing in at 11lb 5oz, while Paul Merson ended the day in third position thanks to 10lb 8oz of silvers.


THE Monarch AC match on the club water was won by John Clare, who mustered 19lb 12oz of carp with pole and pellet.
Dave White took crucians and skimmers on maggot (16lb 6oz) and Dave Ireland caught roach, ide and skimmers (9lb 11oz).



JOHN Mellor claimed victory in the Todmorden AS meeting on the Croft.
Pole and meat helped Mellor secure 25lb 4oz of carp, beating Pete Mottram (13lb 8oz) and Paul Wilkinson (11lb 6oz).

Huddersfield Narrow Canal – Skimmers and carp to pellet. Day tickets on the bank.

Rochdale Canal – Chadderton lengths for plenty of roach and skimmers. Tench to pellet and corn.

Chadderton Mill Lodge – Plenty of carp down the edge. Ide up in the water on any bait fished out.

Park Lake – Peg ten and twenty three are the flyers with pellet for anything that swims.
