Heyside aim to close gap

CRICKET: WITH leaders Uppermill enjoying a day off, second-placed Heyside can close the 91-point gap when they go to Friarmere tomorrow in the Armstrongs Office Furniture Saddleworth and District Cricket League.
Nick Campbell’s team were awarded the day’s average winning points following their recent fixture against Bamford which failed to go ahead.
And this game in hand at least offers the chance to make up some ground and, at the same time, pull away from the chasing pack.
Saddleworth, who currently occupy third position, entertain fifth-placed Bamford at Well-I-Hole, with 20 points separating the sides.
The team sandwiched between them, Shaw, are at home to mid-table Glodwick.
Basement boys Moorside, with three victories and 119 points to their name this term, welcome Greenfield to The Pavilion.
Saddleworth League officials have announced that fixtures tomorrow and for the rest of the season will start at 1pm in order to play in daylight for as long as possible.

LEADERS Delph entertain second-placed Kirkburton tomorrow in the Drakes Huddersfield Premiership’s match of the day.
Grant Jones’ men boast a six-point lead over their rivals, with six matches remaining.
A home victory would give Delph a huge psychological advantage at the business end of the season.
