Chadderton eye cup run

FOOTBALL: CHADDERTON kick off their FA Cup campaign tomorrow when they entertain Cheadle Town in the extra preliminary round.

Manager Paul Buckley is targeting a run in the competition to get supporters talking — and generate some cash in the process.

He said: “It would be brilliant to have a cup run this season and the FA Cup presents us with the earliest opportunity to get one started.

“Cup football, particularly this one, is special for supporters and gets people interested.

“Prize money also offers an attractive incentive for progression in the tournament.

“Last season we did well in the league and we were up near the top until the end, and it is important to try for another top-half finish, but getting a cup run going is also a big priority.”
