SNOOKER: MOSS Inn won a dramatic last-four tie in the Three-Man Manchester Snooker Summer League against tournament favourites Rileys Belle Vue ‘D’ at Oldham Academy.

All-square at three frames apiece, it was left to Michael Wild to clinch victory in the sudden-death showdown and a place in tomorrow’s final against Sale Excelsior at Rileys Belle Vue (8pm).

First to the table for Moss was Mick Dickenson, who was up against a formidable opponent in Dean Sheridan.

Dickenson was soon trailing to his rival, who was aided by a fortunate red in a fine break of 73.

A tight second frame could have gone either way, but it was the Rileys man who took it to leave Moss facing a 2-0 deficit.

Local professional Wild had a lot of work to do against Lennie De Griffa, and he managed to level the match at 2-2.

Mick Webb, of Moss, locked horns with Ray Hutchinson, and they shared the spoils to set up a one-frame decider between Wild and Sheridan after both players were nominated by their respective teams.

Sheridan missed an early opportunity, allowing Wild to record a superb 50 break which was enough to book his side’s place in the final.

Moss Inn had secured a place in the last-four after whitewashing Staly Vegas ‘A’ 6-0 to finish top of their group.
