Angling: CONRAD Taylor has endured a quiet spell of late — but that all changed in the Medlock Bridge AC Saturday open on the Park Lake.

Drawn on the inflow from the duck pond, he used pellet down the edge to catch skimmers from 5oz to bream of 2lbs for a match-winning 11lb 1oz.

Steve Hall, who also had a favourable draw on peg 23, employed his normal chopped worm and caster combination at 11 metres to net 10lb 3oz of skimmers, chub, roach and perch.

o MONDAY night’s Medlock Bridge AC open was a foregone conclusion once Martin Taylor had drawn flyer peg 10 for the third time in recent weeks.

He used pellet to entice 16lb 7oz of skimmers and bream, with many of them arriving in final hour.

Organiser Darren Webb, who drew peg two, applied pellet at 11 metres and caster at three to bag three chub short and three tench and three bream and the odd skimmer on the longer line for 14lb 4oz.

o DAVE Ireland claimed top honours in Wednesday’s Monarch AC match on the club water.

Using chopped worm and caster, he netted 20lb 1oz of carp and roach. Ireland had a bit to spare over Mick Taylor, who opted for pellet on the deck for 15lb 3oz of tench and chub.

o THERE was a low turn-out for Todmorden AS match on Townhouse — but the fishing was good.

Chris Lett landed 16lb 12oz of carp on the pole and paste.

Frank Szakaley, the runner-up, boasted 16lb 8oz of ide and roach using caster on the long pole.

The Tuesday evening series final is on Monday at Croft and Townhouse. Draw is up to 1.45pm, fishing from 2.30pm to 7.30pm.

Pleasure anglers are not allowed on these waters on that day.

TODMORDEN AS used Townhouse for their latest trophy match — and it proved a happy hunting ground for ex-Oldham angler Pete Mottram.
He landed a massive 66lb 10oz of carp on the pole and meat to clinch victory.

Rob McEndry took 44lb of carp and ide to stave off Chris Oliver’s challenge, the latter adopting pole and pellet tactics for 42lb 8oz of carp.

DEREK Greenwood emerged victorious in the Todmorden AS open on the Castleton length of the Rochdale Canal thanks to pole and squatt tempting 6lb 13oz of roach.
Simon Walton, in second place, used identical tactics for 5lb 15oz of roach and tench.

Todmorden AS are staging open match on the Nehesco to Lanebottom lengths of the Rochdale Canal on Sunday, September 4.
