Springhead exit league

CRICKET: SPRINGHEAD have dropped out of the Site Electrical North Manchester League Division One due to a shortage of players.
The second team, currently third in Division Four, will continue.
League secretary John Barrow said: “Over the last 12 months or so Springhead have lost virtually their entire first team.
“We hoped they would be able to carry on until the end of the season, but it just was not possible.
“It leaves us with 11 clubs in Division One and we are happy to stick with that figure in the future.
“Springhead have not yet indicated whether they will try to re-form a first team. If they do, we will have to discuss how it would work and which division they would enter.”
Rain stopped play in Failsworth Macedonia’s home clash with Blackley in Division One.
Responding to the visitors’ 232 for eight, Failsworth were on 90 for five when the weather intervened.
The following day saw Saddleworth thirds lose to Rochdale thirds in the Hodson Cup final at East Lancs PM.
Chasing 177, Saddleworth were 61 runs shy of their goal when the final wicket fell.
