Tonge close in on title glory

Bowls: TONGE are 21.5 points ahead of their rivals with only five fixtures remaining in the Manchester Premier League.
The reigning champions continued their march to the title with a 10-4.5 (192-126) victory over Stockport side Nursery Inn with victories from Andy Cairns (21-15), Jimmy Derby (21-13), Matt Gillies (21-11), Nicky Brooks (21-6), Thomas Dobson (21-7), Darren Griffiths (21-6) and Steve Squire (21-5).
Tonge face a tricky match at Wigan outfit Garswood Hall on Wednesday (7.30pm).
DELPH’S £580 men’s open has a few vacancies on its qualifying dates of Friday, September 2 (6.30pm), Saturday, September 3 (2pm), Friday, September 9 (6.30pm) and Saturday, September 10 (2pm).
