It’s a damp squib for Oldham

CRICKET: OLDHAM were the only one of our four local teams to survive the elements on Saturday — and they wished the hadn’t.
Royton, Werneth and Crompton fell victim to heavy lunchtime rain, but Oldham’s game at Monton and Weaste survived and the 23-over format resulted in a crushing eight-wicket defeat.
Taking first guard, Oldham were skittled for a meagre 83, Dominic Gavin taking five for 32.
That target proved an easy one for Monton, for whom professional Paul Green scored 39 in a reply of 84 for two.
