SADDLEWORTH’S Silver Division team are celebrating after winning the South-East Lancashire team knock-out.
They took on Deane Golf Club at Wigan and survived a rally from their opponents to register a 4-3 success.
Kay Orme led the team out in fantastic style with an amazing 8 and 6 victory.
Further wins came from Sue Brierley (2 and 1) and Janice Nicholson (4 and 2), but Deane dug in to win the next three matches.
It was all on Saddleworth captain and final player Eileen Moores, and she turned up trumps in great style with a comfortable 5 and 3 success.
Saddleworth now have two more hurdles to overcome in order to lift the coveted Lancashire Championship Shield – a trophy they have never won.
On Monday week they will battle it out with the Lancashire East, North-West and South-West champions at Childwall Golf Club.
LADY Vice-Captain Fiona Dooley and Glynis Jones teamed up to win the George and Bessie Nash Trophy, a greensome medal and major competition at Werneth.
They returned 81-14.2-66.8 to win from Brenda Jarvis and Pauline Day (101-28.3-72.7).
First sweep went to Joan Swindells and Eileen Fallows (95-21.4-73.6), while the second sweep was won by Hilda Garner and Sheila Whittingham (100-23.8-76.2).
LYNN Truelove and Jackie Benham won the Millennium Trophy at Crompton and Royton after scoring 41 Stableford points.
They won a card-play-off against Sarah Penney and Amanda Delaney.
