Stuart cops fisheries joy

Angling:

COPTHORNE Fisheries provided the backdrop for Lees and Hey AS’ match, which Stuart Taylor won with a 28lb mixed bag including a 6lb carp which fell to long pole and pellet.

Mark Prestwich was drawn on the next peg to the winner and took second with 24lb 8oz on pole-fished maggot.

Third best was Steve Blackburn. His carp, ide and chub were taken on pole and weighed in at 17lb 3oz.

Lees and Hey AS member Blackburn did well in the Highfield Fisheries Open, netting himself first place with a massive 99lb 8oz of mostly carp.


PAUL Fisher caught 46lb 14oz of mainly carp to win the Oldham Central AC match on the Cudmore Fisheries’ Suez Canal.

Jeff Isaacs followed with a 44lb 9oz mixed bag, ahead of Darren Jones, whose silvers and small carp added up to 24lb 4oz.


STEVE Hall led the way in the Medlock Bridge AC open match on the Park Lake, finishing with 10lb 2oz of skimmers and chub.

Runner-up Dave Brierley was not far behind — he accounted for 9lb 4oz of small roach and perch.

Third-placed Paul Booth, with pole and maggot, tempted skimmers and chub (8lb 11oz).

MEDLOCK Bridge AC open match action on the Park Lake saw Dave Chadwick take top spot thanks to 13lb 12oz of chub, roach and skimmers.

Steve Hall came second with a similar net which amounted to 10lb 12oz, and Bill Brierley was 2lb behind in third.

Ogden Reservoir – Fishing really well for bream with swimfeeder and catching plenty of bream up to 6lb. Waggler and pole also tempting plenty of roach with pegs near the houses best. Day tickets available on the bank or at Tight Lines in Shaw.

Huddersfield Narrow Canal — Chub up to 5lb and carp to 6lb on Saddleworth and District Angling Society waters. Plenty of small chub on length under viaduct taking pellet. Day tickets on the bank.

Rochdale Canal — Fishing well with plenty of roach and perch falling to maggot and caster. Squatt and bread punch for loads of roach.

Chadderton Mill Lodge — carp and ide feeding.

Park Lake — Maggot, worm and pellet all producing fish. Double figures weights needed to win matches.
