NON-LEAGUE FOOTBALL:
MOSSLEY were held to a goalless draw by Runcorn Linnets in the FA Cup preliminary round at Seel Park.
The Lilywhites travel to Merseyside tomorrow (7.45pm) to try again, but are likely to be without towering centre-half Steve Halford, who was withdrawn from the action with 20 minutes remaining.
OLDHAM Boro earned a 2-1 victory over Abbey Hey in the Vodkat North-West Counties League Division One.
Jake Shannon gave Tony Mills’ side the lead after 18 minutes, and Andy Smith made it 2-0 with 20 minutes remaining.
Jonathon Hardy hit back for the visitors in the 82nd minute, but Boro held on to secure three points.
Mills said: “I am delighted because we thoroughly deserved to win the game, we were all over them.
“When they got their goal late on it became a bit nervy, you see it so often when a team gets back into a match and then they nick a point from out of nowhere.
“But we played some good stuff and dug deep at the end to take the victory.”
Disapointment came late for Chadderton, who lost 2-1 at Daisy Hill in the NWCL Division One.
Ryan Chiasty gave the home side the lead on the stroke of half-time, but Leon Melia looked to have rescued a handy point for Paul Buckley’s team with an 80th-minute equaliser.
However, Alex Leigh notched what proved to be the winner for Daisy Hill with five minutes left.
