DELPH ended the Drakes Huddersfield Premiership season in second place after beating Broad Oak, with Honley taking the title after victory over Slaithwaite.

Grant Jones’ side dismissed their opponents for 127 before strolling to a seven-wicket triumph, Bilal Khiljee taking five for 22 and making 54 not out.

Delph had started the day in third position, but after this win, they claimed the runners-up spot thanks to Kirkburton’s loss to Scholes.

Skipper Jones was kept aprised of events in the Honley and Kirkburton fixtures via Twitter updates, but in truth his team were always outsiders for the title.

Delph headed the table for the majority of the season but they fell away in August following defeats at the hands of their two biggest rivals for first place .

WOODHOUSES had to settle for third spot in the Lees Brewery Lancashire County League Division One table following their defeat to Denton Saint Lawrence.

Mike Cassidy’s side were bowled out for 119 before Saints reached their target with five wickets to spare.
