Angling: FRED Prudham defied the gale force winds which hit the Park Lake to win the Medlcok Bridge AC open match.
After making a poor start on pole, he switched to fishing the waggler and maggot and caught decent chub, roach and perch.
A late lull saw Prudham switch back to pole and net a 2lb 8oz bream which helped him reach a winning total of 11lb 4oz.
Runner-up Dave Chadwick took chub, roach and perch totalling 10lb 2oz, while Mick Tighe caught 8lb 10oz of skimmers and a few roach.
IAN Wilcox claimed top spot in the Saddleworth and District Angling Society’s members-only match on the Eagle Mill Dam.
Using pole and pellet to tempt tench, roach and skimmers, he tipped 10lb 7oz on to the scales.
Lee Birchenclough followed with a 9lb mixed bag, and Jeff Fish finished third with a level 5lb that fell to pole and caster.
LEES and Hey had their contest on Highfield Fisheries Oak pool switched to the Beech pool but no-one complained, as weights were superb and everyone reached double figures.
Mark Prestwich led the way, using pole and pellet to account for 34lb 12oz of mostly carp.
Second place went to Ian Hurst with mixed grill meat fished on the pole earning 33lb of carp, while Paul Mercer secured third with f1s, goldfish, ide and skimmers weighing in at 26lb 8oz.
PETE Mottram won the first of three Todmorden meetings.
He triumphed in the members-only match on the Croft after snapping up 25lb 8oz of carp.
Pete Jackson had to settle for the runners-up tag — two good carp helped him reach 22lb 12oz, and carp and bream adding up to 18lb 8oz saw Rob McEndry come third.
Stuart Campbell headed the field in the open match on the Nehesco to Lanebottom length of the Rochdale Canal.
Five carp taken on pole, tip and meat pushed him to 46lb 8oz, beating Craig Howarth (21lb 14oz) and Derek Greenwood (16lb 1oz).
The open match on the Townhouse saw McEndry come out on top with 61lb 14oz of carp that fell to tip, pellet and meat.
Second-placed Chris Lett (54lb 8oz) bagged plenty of carp, as did John Mellor (38lb).
