Glodwick in first-game shock

TABLE TENNIS: GLODWICK, Oldham Table Tennis League Division One champions for the last five seasons, have made a poor start to the new campaign.
They went down 7-3 to Saddleworth ‘A’, for whom Darren Lindley and Paul Cicchelli were unbeaten.
The summer practice sessions have paid off for Alan Auxilly, who won his three matches against Grotton ‘A’ in an 8-2 victory for Unison ‘A’ in Division Two.
Kurt Leech, Grotton’s new signing from the Glossop League, had two wins on his debut.
In Division Three, Liaqat Ali was unbeaten for Deaf ‘A’ in their 6-4 win against Hollinwood ‘E’.
Dave Jefferson starred with three wins for Werneth ‘F’ in their 7-3 victory at Coldhurst ‘D’ in Division Four.
And in the new Division Five, Pollards ‘A’ beat Uppermill ‘C’ 7-3 with an unbeaten display from Debbie Robinson.
