BOWLS: TONGE will have to wait a little longer before retaining their Manchester Premier League title following a shock reverse against South Manchester RBL.
Tonge had only two winners at the away venue, Jimmy Derby winning 21-15 and Andrew Cairns 21-11, in a 194-143 (11-3) defeat.
Tonge are 16.5 points clear of St Joseph’s (Chorley) with two fixtures remaining and next Wednesday they could clinch the title with a resounding victory over Tottington at home.
THERE is lots of local interest in the finals of the Delph Open on Sunday (2pm).
PLAY continues in the Inbev Winter League at Chadderton Cot this weekend.
CHADDERTON’S Jonathan Copeland won the inaugural Elton Liberal Club Open in Bury and entries are already being taken for next year’s competition.

OLDHAM Women’s League delegates’ meeting will be held at Hollinwood Cricket Club next Thursday (7.45pm) when presentation night tickets will be on sale and trophies must be returned in a clean condition.
