Leach lands Delph Open title

BOWLS: ROCHDALE’S Steve Leach won the £200 top prize in the Delph Men’s Open when he defeated Tonge’s Nicky Brooks 21-9 in the final.
The semi-finals of the competition, sponsored by Harold Stock and Co. and the Old Bell, Delph, saw Leach beat Friezland’s Paul Heap 21-18 and Brooks overcome Springbank’s Alan Hodson 21-20.
HOPWOOD and Waterloo and Taunton share top spot in the Inbev Winter Bowling League’s ‘A’ Division after both recorded their second victory of the new season on Sunday.
Hopwood overcame Springhead Rovers 8-3, while Waterloo saw off hosts Chadderton Cot 10-1.
Dogwood are already six points clear at the top of the ‘B’ Division following a 10-1 defeat of Wanderers.
