Three cheers in charity event

GOLF:

JULIE Connolly (Oldham) and Linda Newman and Jean Dervan (Saddleworth) teamed up to win the Joan Hirst Charity Cup at Werneth.

Second were Fiona Dooley, Pat Grant and Glynis Jones (Werneth), on a card play-off from Glenis O’Brien, Brenda Keaney and Jennifer Kenworthy (Crompton and Royton).

The event was organised by the Oldham Ladies’ Golf Association and it was the first time it had been held since the death of former president Joan Hirst last year.

A full field of OLGA members competed and raised £500 for the Genesis Breast Cancer Prevention Appeal.
