FOOTBALL: MOSSLEY hit back to earn a 1-1 draw at home to Prescot Cables in the Evo-Stik League Division One North.
The visitors enjoyed the better of the early exchanges and took the lead after 37 minutes through skipper Joe Gibiliru, who fired home from the edge of the box.
But the Lilywhites were on level terms just three minutes later.
Lee Rick’s pinpoint delivery found the head of Keil O’Brien, the defender nodding in his first goal for the club.
Home skipper Peter Band felt unwell at the break and was replaced by Steve Halford.
Prescot were reduced to 10 men with 20 minutes remaining when Tom Sayer was shown a second yellow card for fouling Dan Queeley.
A scrappy second period produced few chances and it ended all-square.
OLDHAM Boro saw off Rochdale Town 3-0 in the Vodkat North-West Counties League Cup first round.
Brandon Parker-Stone headed home after 73 minutes, and Mark Coyne netted 10 minutes later after a one-two with Redmond Parker.
Jerome Bryson put the icing on the cake with a cool finish in the dying minutes.
Boro boss Tony Mills said: “We are in good form at the moment — a lot of it comes down to confidence.”
CHADDERTON beat Abbey Hey 3-0 in their first round tie.
James Curley struck twice, in the fourth and 62nd minutes, and Matthew Chadwick scored a minute from time for Paul Buckley’s side.
