Unbeaten McLean leads way for early pacesetters

TABLE TENNIS:
SADDLEWORTH CC A made it three wins from as many games in Division One of the Oldham Table Tennis League.
Ian McLean was unbeaten in both matches against Werneth B and Honeywell B, while Duncan Hadfield won five games out of six.
Fancied Hyde YM A had a tough game at Coldhurst A in Division Two, contrary to the 9-1 scoreline.
Half the sets went the full distance, Richard Sarre (three) just beating Simon Walsh and Geoff Ogden (three) narrowly overcoming Derek Whatmough.
An excellent unbeaten performance by Richard Tamworth contributed greatly to the Owls A draw against Gilders in Division Three. Martin Nicholls and Mark Craven won two each for Gilders.
Division Four action saw George Marrow emerge with his undefeated record still intact for Hollinwood F in their draw at Honeywell F.
Previously-unbeaten Aaron Rowbotham lost to Marrow, while Alan Wynn was beaten by Marrow and Brian Handley.
Tom Farrell beat Derek Taylor in the fifth to give him a maximum haul for the night in a 6-4 win for Hollinwood G against Coldhurst E in Division Five.
