ANGLING: FORMER Oldham angler Mark Lucas is on a roll.

Competing in the Wednesday open at Blundells Fishery, he chose Ash peg 43 and used maggot up in the water for 60lbs of ide.

Lucas then switched to pellet down the side for big carp to 10lbs for a massive 147lb 8oz return.

Mark Billingham, the runner-up, had a similar net to the winner of 138lb 8oz, and was followed by Kieran Rich’s 130lb 1oz effort for third.

ROYTON angler Keith Smith boasts a good record on the River Weaver, recording numerous wins and a host of placings.
In the Northwich match on the Hunts lock length of this superb water, Smith managed 9lb 14oz for fourth spot against top-class opposition.

CONRAD Taylor came out on top in the Meadow View open on Lark pool.
A strong wind dictated how long anglers were going to use their poles, with the Gilders rod settling on seven metres.

He applied pellet for 69lb 14oz of carp to around the 8lb mark. Mark Williams was second-best with 49lb 8oz.

MAVER North-West are one of the country’s leading teams — and they lived up to their reputation in the fourth round of the Pennine Winter League on the Brighouse Canal.
Craig Howarth (Maver NW White) was the individual winner.

He had caster-tempted roach to a massive 2lb 2oz, along with smaller samples for a 6lb 5oz net.

Dave Colbran, the runner-up, has an amazing record on canals and fishes in a positive manner.

He had a brace of bream on caster weighing 5lb 13oz, while Dave Bradley was third with 5lb 2oz.

STEVE Hall topped the last of this year’s Medlock Bridge AC open matches on the Park Lake.
He employed pellet and chopped worm for 14lb 13oz of chub and skimmers. Pete Cuniffe, in second place, used pole and caster at 11 metres for 11lb 11oz of chub, roach and two good skimmers.

SUNDAY’S Todmorden AS Trophy match on Croft went to Stuart Edwards, thanks to a 40lb 12oz net of carp on the pole and paste. Mick Clegg took second place, with carp and ide making up his 33lb 8oz bag.

TODMORDEN AS are staging an open pairs match on Croft and Townhouse Fisheries on Sunday.
