FOOTBALL: COPPICE ‘A’ suffered a shock 4-2 home defeat to Highfield in the D & J Builders
(North-West) Ltd Oldham Sunday League President’s Trophy second round.
S Barrow struck twice for Jack Abbott Premier Division side Coppice, but braces from K Kurpass and T Greally sealed the win for David Giblin Division One outfit Highfield.
Top-flight Oddies also crashed out in a 3-1 defeat at Legends, who play their football one division below Oddies.
And High Crompton were beaten 3-2 by Division One team Oldham GPO.
Several top-flight sides did progress. Rifle Range Royle Blues earned a narrow 1-0 win at the expense of Northside, with Oakes grabbing the winner.
Red Star won on penalties after a 1-1 draw with FC Royton — R Hobin scored for Red Star during normal time.
Chaddy End saw off Royton Athletic 4-1. Fitton Hill defeated Blue Club 3-1 and Limeside KG cruised to a 5-1 triumph against Springhead ‘B’.
